Beginnings and Endings.
It's super-hectic August again when our current students are coming to the end of their courses and we're busy enrolling and planning for next year.
The groups of 2012/13 have been exceptionally hard-working and have produced some brilliant case study and portfolio work. Our clinic sessions have been particularly successful with around fifty clients booking in for regular treatments and giving students a real boost with their positive feedback.
With all the clinic and case study experience behind them students are now excitedly planning their new businesses. We're particularly lucky to have Oz's support when it comes to helping students design their websites and get to grips with SEO. (Search engine optimisation.)
We've been lucky to have such an effective and knowledgeable team of tutors this year - all with different teaching styles and areas of expertise. The kind and sensitive learning support provided by Karen has helped many members of the group through tricky periods and Steven is a hugely motivating teacher and successful therapist.
We have an exciting move planned for September when we'll be basing our courses at the University of Worcester. It's just a few junctions up the M5 with excellent facilities and plenty of parking. We're coming to the end of enrolment with just a few places left - so if you're interested email me as soon as possible and I'll be delighted to give you more details. eileen@reflexology-school.com
We have lots of new ides for next year and plan to offer courses in Indian Head Massage and blending aromatherapy oils - so watch this space!

There may be some adjustments as the University doesn't confirm bookings until July.
We're getting lots of enquiries and are already quite far advanced in the enrolment process - perhaps we'll avoid the usual last minute scramble for places this year!
To keep us on our toes there have been some revisions to the L3 Diploma for next year - the content will remain broadly the same but the 7 units have been re-grouped and we now have 4 units with an additional Nutrition Unit. This will be the only OfQual accredited L3 Reflexology Diploma available so students can rest assured that this is the one to do to be certain of AoR and CNHC membership.
The current group have completed three busy clinic sessions with outside clients - masses of them, including past students and prospective students! We're all exhausted at the end of the day but it's great experience - particularly the positive and encouraging feedback from happy clients. Two more clinic days to go before the summer break then completion in early October.
We now have a team of specialist teachers offering input in their individual areas so we can offer a flexible approach to learning, including lots of individual support.
2012/13 looks like being an exciting year.

My newly polished website is due to go live next week with details of our 2012/2013 Reflexology Diploma Course. Enquiries are coming in already so I've taken the decision to start the enrolment process a little earlier than usual. It'll be possible to download the new enrolment form and post it to me with your deposit to secure a place as soon as you've made the decision that this is the course for you! As always I'm more than happy to answer any questions either by email or phone.
Last year we invited prospective students to come to one of our client sessions and experience a free treatment. This worked really well as it was possible to chat to current students, see the university venue and get an idea of what the course involves. This year there'll be appointments available on any of the following Sunday afternoons:
22nd April/20th May/ 10th June/ 1st July/ 22nd July. Email me for details and to book a treatment, subject to availability.
Last year's Diploma group all passed their exam with exceptionally high marks and are preparing to set up their new Reflexology Practices. We'll all be keeping in touch - it's always good to hear how ex-students are progressing and give support when needed.
The current group are already a third of the way through the course and working hard at their case studies. Still a long way to go - but there's an abundance of talent and enthusiasm.

Dates for next year are now confirmed and if I can remember how to do it I'll put them on the website calendar! In the meantime the list appears on a previous blog entry. (January I think.)
There's also an enrolment morning on September 3rd when the new group will meet for the first time, complete all the paperwork and eat special reflexology biscuits. Note - this date is for students who have already had their initial course application accepted and paid a deposit. Numbers are strictly limited so it's important to make contact asap.

Plans for next years Level 3 Diploma Course are now well under way. Dates are confirmed for the first half of the course up until the end of April 2012 - we may need to make some minor changes after that but hopefully we'll be able to finalise with the University shortly.
There are still a few places left on the Taster Day on August 14th and the Diploma Course is filling up rapidly.
Current students have been gaining valuable experience from our clinic sessions where outside clients are invited in for treatments. Quite a few prospective students have taken the opportunity to come in for a treatment to get an idea of what they might be taking on next year. The message is always the same - it's hard work but hugely interesting and rewarding. There are no short cuts to becoming a successful reflexologist!
Prospective students often ask what they should be looking for in a good reflexology course. First of all you need to check that the qualification is well recognised and will give you membership of professional associations and onto the CNHC register of practitioners. It's really important to ask about your tutor's experience in running the diploma course and if possible ask to speak to past students - or go into class for a treatment. Short courses are a definite no-no. It takes time and effort to develop as a therapist and you shouldn't even consider a short-cut. You get what you pay for.
